“Your life is a result of the choices you make…If you don’t like your life, it is time to start making better choices.” -Unknown
Keep this in mind when you reflect on where you are in life and the impact of your choices. If you make bad choices throughout your life, it will leave you in a predicament where you are not happy with what is around you, and it can bring forth a bad attitude. You may try to blame others and never take responsibility, but you are ultimately responsible for the choices you make and the life that you live as a result of them.
I am a believer that a person will not make better choices in life until they have reached their personal “rock bottom” in life. I believe this because once a person hits a point where they have nowhere to go, that is when true change can happen.
For me, that “rock-bottom” had me sitting in a police car and in front of a judge in 2005. How did I get there? I made bad choice after bad choice of not being responsible for my obligations in life and listening to people who did not have my best interest in mind. That ride and court hearing had me feeling sick because I knew that the choices that I had made up until that point put me there.
It was at that point that I knew I needed to change things. Slowly, but surely, I started to turn my life around. The road to recovery for me meant that I had to make the following choices: taking care of my responsibilities, taking control of my life, and becoming the change that I want to be. It has taken a few years to replace the bad choices with better choices, but I am thankful for the experience because if I never had taken that ride and faced the judge, I would not be here as a better man, better husband, or better father.
If you are not happy with where your life is, you can make the change today by making better choices. You want to make the choices that are going to bring in the right people to help you, give you the opportunities to pursue your dreams, and make you a better person. The changes will take time, but as long as you are patient and stay committed with making better choices, you will love what your life has to offer you as a result. Let’s remember that you have the power to choose anything, but it is choices you make that will determine the life that you will live today and tomorrow.
“What choices will you make now to give yourself a better today and tomorrow?
