As normal as you may think you are daily, to the outside world, there is at least one thing that you say or do that is considered to be eerie or weird.

Today’s inspiration is all about your eerie self. We will take a look at the following:

  • What is eerie?
  • What can make you eerie to someone else?
  • How can you learn to deal with what makes you eerie?

Now that we have the questions, let’s find the answers!

What is eerie?

Merriam-Webster defines eerie as strange and mysterious. Someone or something that you would think is eerie can leave wondering and having more questions than answers.

What can make you eerie to someone else?

As I mentioned earlier, there is at least one thing that you say or do that is eerie to someone else. Here are four things that can make you appear to be eerie to someone:

  1. Language
    • You may sound strange and weird someone when you do the following with your language.
      • Speak at random.
      • Give incomplete thoughts and sentences.
      • Share prophetic thoughts and predictions.
      • Say something that makes no sense at all.
  2. Physical appearance
    • Your physical appearance may scare someone if you have any of the following attributes:
      • Piercings or tattoos in unusual locations.
      • Being extremely overweight or skinny.
      • Missing or broken body part or extremity.
      • Abnormal growth.
      • Rash
      • Dirt or nasty smell
  3. Fetishes
    • Your fetish can make you appear odd to someone depending on what it is. Here are a few fetishes that people may find eerie if you have one of these:
      • Food
      • Clothes/Shoes
      • Foot
      • Balloons
      • Insects
      • Tentacles
  4. Hobbies/Interests
    • Your hobbies and interests can freak someone out depending on what it is. Here are a few hobbies and interests that people may find eerie about you, if you have one of these:
      • Extreme ironing
      • Eating or collecting bugs
      • Competitive dog grooming
      • Collecting naval hair.
      • Biting or collecting fingernails and toenails
      • Tattooing vehicles

How can you learn how to deal with what makes you eerie?

Being eerie is not necessarily bad thing as long as you know how to deal with the things that make you that way. Here are a few ways you can deal with what makes you eerie:

  1. Acknowledge what makes you eerie.
    • Dealing with what makes you eerie starts with you acknowledging them first.
    • Make a list and recognize all that makes you different from everyone else.
  2. Do research on the things that makes you eerie.
    • From your list of things that makes you eerie, it is time for you do research to understand why you like them and why people find them eerie.
    • You can do this through asking people and doing your own research online or in a library.
  3. Make a decision to keep or surrender what makes you eerie.
    • After doing your research on the things that make you eerie, you got to make a choice to either keep them or lose them.
    • Choose to keep the ones that are important and valuable to you while letting go of the others.
  4. Be yourself regardless.
    • No matter what you do to try to be normal, being yourself will always be eerie to someone else.
    • Just be yourself and love who you are!

I encourage you to take the time to look at the things that make eerie in front of other people. Being eerie is something that you cannot run from because it is apart of who are. Let’s remember that no matter how normal you are to yourself, you will always be considered to be eerie to someone else.
