“In order to lead and change the world, you have to start by leading and changing your life.” -Michael J. Fite

Have you ever thought in your mind what it would be to be called president of something? You see presidents of countries, clubs, and organizations and think highly of them because they have achieved the highest position available respectively. You may look up to them and see the power that they have in leading people and making change.

I want to ask you two questions off top, and I want to know if you believe me on this:

  1. What if I told you that you are already a president and have been since day one?

  2. What if I told you that your presidency can leave bigger impact than an elected or selected president?

If you answered yes, then you understand your powers and responsibility as President of You. If you answered no, then it is time for you to open your eyes and mind to the position you have been holding since day one…President of You!

Today’s inspiration is all about you Mister/Madam President! We will discuss the following four questions:

  1. How is president defined?

  2. How did you get the title Mister or Madam President on day one of birth?

  3. What is the difference between President You and President of a country or organization?

  4. Mister/Madam President of You! How can you make the presidency of your life count in five steps?

Now that we have the questions, let’s find the answers!

How is president defined?

Merriam-Webster has a definition for president as:

  1. Someone who has the highest position in an organization or business.

  2. The head of the government in some countries.

President is simply associated with being the leader or front guy/woman.

How did you get the title Mister/Madam President on day one of your birth?

Granted, we all have different names given to us from birth and even different titles (son, daughter, baby, princess, little man, etc.), there was a secret title that was given to all of us.

  1. For the males, the title given was Mister President!

  2. For the females, the title given was Madam President!

Now you may not refer to yourself as such, but let’s take a look at six aspects of your presidency since the beginning:

  1. Your inauguration.

    • Your day of birth served as your inauguration because it was on that day you was sworn in to live you life simply by being born.
  2. Your Vice President.

    • Your parent(s) became your vice president(s) because you needed someone to be your initial helpmate to live your life.
    • Over time, you may have selected a best friend, mentor, boyfriend, or girlfriend to be your Vice President.
    • If you got married, your Vice President may have changed from mom or dad to your husband or wife.
  3. Your Cabinet.

    • Your cabinet on day one featured your family and doctors who all served a specific role in getting you here, cleaned up, and looking good for the world to see, kiss, and hold you for the first time.
    • Over time, your cabinet has evolved to include friends, teachers, mentors, and professional associates to help advise you in certain areas of your life as you continue to grow.
  4. Your House of Representatives and Senate.

    • Your House of Representatives and Senate on day one was your entire family and everyone else outside of your parent(s) who wanted to give their proposal on what they think you should do and be.
    • Over time, the people in your House of Representatives and Senate have come and gone with the wind, but they still all continue to propose to you ideas and suggestions as to what they think you should do and be in your life.
  5. Your Republic and People.

    • On day one, you served your republic, which was those who knew of your existence, by being born and looking as cute as a button, which made them smile and gush all over you.
    • Over time, the number of people added to your republic has grown drastically because you continue to make decisions and do things that affect a lot of people, whether it is in person or through various forms of media.
  6. Your Term Limit.

    • Your term limit for being Mister or Madam President started when you were born and ends when your life is over.
    • You cannot be removed from your position through a vote, impeachment, or protest.

When you look at your presidency, you will see that there is a lot that comes with being the President of You!
