What is your high and low tide?

I am going to use Merriam-Webster to help me define the two definitions and relate them to you.

First, lets us deal with high tide from Merriam-Webster that fits this thought:

  • culminating point : climax

When you are at your high tide, you are functioning at your best and feeling good about life. The worries are not as great because good things are happening around you.

On the other hand, when it comes to the low tide, here is’s definition that fits perfectly:

  • The lowest point of decline of anything.

During your low tide, this is where you start to either seeing yourself losing something or feeling down about something. The worries become greatest during this time because things are either stagnant or potentially getting worse.

What are three reasons why you go through low tides?

At various points in our lives, we do go through low tides. Although the reasons do differ from person-to-person and from situation-to-situation, here are three facts to consider about your own low tides:

  1. You cannot control when they will come or go.

    • You cannot predict or decide when your low tides will hit your life.
  2. They exist in your life at the right times for the right reasons.

    • Every low tide that you get comes on time for you to deal with whether you think the time or the situation is right.
  3. They come with lessons for you to learn.

    • Each low tide that you face comes with a set of lessons for you to apply to your situation and overcome so that you can begin to recover and find success

No matter what the reasons may be that you are experiencing your low tides, understand that you are not alone when it comes to experiencing them.

What are three questions must you ask yourself during your low tide?

Every low tide that you receive in your life will reveal to you something in which you need to pay attention to. Although each low tide will reveal something different, here are three constant questions you must ask during each low tide:

  1. What was hidden by the high tide?

    • As mentioned earlier, your high tide gives you the mentality that as long as things are going well, no need to sweat the issues and can be put away until another time, but when you hit your low tide, those issues seem to be larger to where it can no longer be hidden.
  2. How did I arrive at my low tide?

    • The low tide that you are facing reveals not only the issues that were hidden by the high tide, but it also can tell you the people, actions, and circumstances that landed you at your lowest point.
  3. How can I deal with and overcome my low tide?

    • Your low tide can also provide to you the answers and resources needed to get up from your low tide and start your recovery towards becoming successful.

These three questions will provide the clarification needed to deal with any low tide that you may face.
