“Look at a tree when you lose hope. First it was a seed below the ground and only with patience it was able to touch the sky above.” -Roxana Jones

Keep this in mind when it comes to understanding how you and trees can rise up above your issues and the ground.

You may not think you and a tree have a lot in common, but in reality, you both do. Just because a tree may not go through what you go through does not mean a tree cannot teach you how to grow and move upward.

Today’s inspiration is all about showing you that you and a tree are connected. We will simply take a look at the following:

  • What does a tree and you have in common?

  • What are six ways that a tree can teach you to rise up from your issues?

Now that we have the questions, let’s find the answers!

What does a tree and you have in common?

A tree and yourself have four things that you need in order for survival.

  • Air

  • Fire

  • Soil

  • Water

Check the my graph below to see what you and the tree have in common.

What are six ways that a tree can teach you to rise up from your issues?

Whenever you are faced with a situation that knocks you down, you must learn to get up. In order to do this, we must look to the tree for knowledge. Joanne Raptis offers up six ways in which we can be like the tree.

I will touch on each solution below to show how you can be like the tree and rise up from your issues:

  1. Stay grounded.

    • Just like the tree, you must remain firm on solid ground no matter what you are going through.
    • Take the time to stop, meditate, breathe, remain calm, and be yourself.
    • When you remain grounded, you will not let hard times bring you out of character.
  2. Connect with your roots.

    • Just like a tree, you must remain attached to your roots so that you are getting the support and nourishment that you need to survive whatever you are going through.
    • Take the opportunity to reaffirm your connection with family, friends, associates, and other people who helps to keep you grounded and focused.
    • When you do connect with your roots, you will form a strong bond that can survive the test of time.
  3. Turn over a new leaf.

    • Just like a tree, you got to be willing to let go of falling leaves and grow new leaves.
    • Let go the past and tough times when it is time, and look forward to experiencing new adventures and good times.
    • When you turn over a new leaf, you learn how to let go and prepare yourself to move on.
  4. Bend before you break.

    • Just like a tree, you must be able to show the ability to be flexible yet strong at the same time.
    • Learn how to adjust and adapt to the situation, avoid taking words or gestures too personal, and leave yourself with options.
    • When you are able to bend, you are able to move with the wind and not let your stiffness and resistance be the reason why you break.
  5. Enjoy your unique natural beauty.

    • Just like a tree, you must let your uniqueness and natural looks shine in the face of whatever is thrown at you.
    • Take the time to list and appreciate the qualities that you possess that makes you who you are.
    • When you enjoy your unique natural beauty, it will have a way of projecting your strengths and toughness outward to where people can see it.
  6. Keep growing.

    • Just like a tree, you must continue to grow no matter the season or weather.
    • Continue to grow mentally, physically, spiritually, and professionally through learning, application, prayer, meditation, exercise, conversation, trial and error.
    • When you continue to keep growing, you focusing on rising above ground and reaching new heights in your life.

I encourage you to take the time to look at the moments where you may have been down in your life. The times where you actually got up and grew made you stronger as a person. A tree shows the same strength whenever it survives whatever nature or man throws at it. Let’s remember that just like the tree, you have the ability to grow and rise to new heights, but it starts with you establishing your roots and letting nature take its course.

I have fourquestions to ask in which I would love for you to give some thought. Feel free to answer and comment below:

  1. Can you recall a moment where you have fallen and lost hope?

  2. How were you able to get up and rise above that moment?

  3. In what way(s) do you feel that you and trees are similar?

  4. What would you recommend to someone who has fallen and need to get up?

Your answers and comments can help yourself or someone else help you understand that no matter what you may go through or experience, you possess the strength to rise and grow beyond it.

  1. Michael I love this share! I am always in awe of Trees. I especially love to sit under them for my outside meditation sessions, I have two special ones I go to in my neighborhood park 🙂
