Keep this in mind whenever you are trying to find the formula to your success.

It is no secret that everyone wants to experience success. There is no greater feeling in the world than to accomplish something and be rewarded for it. As good as that feeling can be, if a person is not aware of what it takes, success may be difficult to achieve or obtain.

Today’s inspiration is focused on understanding and finding the right formula for success. We will take a look at the following:

  • What is success?
  • Where does achieving success goes wrong?
  • How can urgency and patience help you become successful?

Now that we have the questions, let’s find the answers!

What is success?

Merriam-Webster defines success as:

  • The fact of getting or achieving wealth, respect, or fame.

Where does achieving success goes wrong?

Achieving success is something that you want to do many times in your life. If you are not careful, your attempt at achieving success can go wrong. Here is how it can go wrong.

  1. Lack of urgency.
    • If you do not have the right sense of urgency in achieving success, you will not meet your deadlines.
    • Your lack of urgency can produce laziness and  procrastination towards your own goals.
    • Doing this will ensure that you either move slowly, delay, or never finish your goals.
  2. Not following steps/instructions.
    • When choose not to follow the steps or instructions, you will find yourself missing out on something critical and important to you achieving your own success.
    • Not following steps/instructions can cause you to cut corners and not listening attentively when it comes to achieving your goals.
    • Doing this will ensure you making an error in which you will have to spend more time going back to fix.
  3. Lack of patience.
    • If you are impatient, you will think, say, and do things that will force an outcome you truly are not ready to handle.
    • Lack of patience can come when someone or something is taking longer than expected to happen or come true.
    • Showing this will ensure that you will think, say, or do something that will lead to you sabotaging your own goals and dreams with negativity.

How can urgency and patience help you become successful?

You are capable of being successful, but you are going to need to show some urgency and patience to get there. Ralph Marston shared in his above quote how you can become successful using urgency and patience. I will break down his quote and give you insight on how you can make this happen:

  1. Be urgent about making the effort.
    • If you want to make the effort to be successful, the urgency needs to be there.
    • Here is how you can be urgent about making the effort:
      1. Prioritize what it is that you want to do and accomplish.
      2. Clear out anything and everything that is distracting you from giving your best effort.
      3. Let go and leave the past in the past.
      4. Focus on what is in front of you and do not look back.
      5. Just go and give it everything you got without any regrets.
    • When you are urgent about making an effort, you will give yourself a great chance at becoming successful.
  2. Be patient about seeing the results.
    • Another factor about becoming successful has to do with you being patient with the results.
    • Here is how you can be patient about seeing the results:
      1. Do not listen to negativity and fear, whether it comes from you or somebody else.
      2. Have faith and confidence in what you are doing.
      3. Pray to your higher spirit or talk to someone you can trust to keep you motivated.
      4. Reward yourself along the way for accomplishing certain points in your road to success.
      5. Keep going and never give up your fight until you have achieved your ultimate goal.
    • When you are patient about seeing the results, you will see that everything will fall in place and the successes will come when the time is right.

I encourage you to take the time to look at the moments where you have been successful in your life. You will find that in the moments where you were successful, you managed to show the right level of urgency and patience needed to make your goals and dreams become reality. The right levels of urgency and patience will vary depending on what your goal is, so you have to constant work at finding what works for each goal that you desire to find success in. Let’s remember that success comes to those who are willing to show urgency in what they want and be patient with the process so that the results will follow.

I have a few questions that I would love for you to give some thought. Feel free to answer and comment below:

  • Can you recall a moment where you achieved success?
  • How did you go about finding the right balance between showing urgency and patience?
